replaced ECTS, still having same problem!
D'oh!!!
I just finally got around to replacing my ECTS and the darn thing was already new. Now my dash light is still flashing. It doesn't do it all the time, so I'm thinking there's just a bad connection somewhere. Any ideas? By the way, anyone needing to do this should check out SaturnFans.com and Wolfman's detailed instructions. Really saves time. Altho I recommend removing the battery cuz my short fingers couldn't reach the connection with the battery in the way! I did post this same problem on that forum, BTW. I once said disparaging remarks about SaturnFans but I take them all back. There are a few guys over there who really do know what they're talking about! Not that there aren't any here, of course. Anyway, life goes on. At least all the snow melted (yay).

that sucks. What dash light is causing you trouble?

Whoops, wasn't specific enough again.
It's the idiot light for the high temp/low coolant (neither condition actually exists).

Yep, always flashed. Battery was disconnected for at least 20 minutes. The connector was nice and clean. I haven't noticed any difference at all yet but I'll be driving the heck out of it tomorrow so we'll see.
Razorbak on SaturnFans mentioned that there is a float sensor inside the coolant tank that could be bad. So Thursday I'll check that out if I can figure it out (y'know, the Haynes manual doesn't even mention such a thing). Maybe I can solve a lot of our problems, ha ha. ![]() Oh, BTW, the original problem I'm trying to solve is the hard starting. It does it mostly when warm. I still need to clean the EGR valve, check the idle air control and put new plugs and wires on. No classes on Thursday so I know what I'll be doing instead! At least it's more fun then sitting thru lectures.
