1996 jimmy heater housing falling apart

I have a 96 Jimmy, and when I was changing the spark plug wires, the heater housing started to crumble apart. It appears that the plastic housing has dried out and is now falling apart.

Has anyone had this problem?

Thanks for the reply.

The dealer says that the part is called a "barrier". He also said that he had a neighbor that had the same problem with a Jimmy, so my guess is that it is a common problem. The question is, "What will GM do about it."

What type of respoce did GM give you. ( I have purchased three Jimmy/Envoys through this dealer, so I have thier attention, from a future sales stand point.)
