2000 Avalon - Extra Key Programmable

I need to purchase an extra key for my 2000 Avalon (not the keyless remote, just the key). I want the key to open and start the vehicle. To purchase from the dealer, or locksmith it is $100. Can buy a programmable one from a hardware store for much less and they said I can program it using my owner's manual. This information is not in my owners manual. Is it possible to program this key and if so, does anyone have the instructions? So far, all the information I have found has been relating to programming keyless remote only.

I have the same car and just purchased (had made) a new key for my car from the dealer. The cost was $16.00. You might want to use the dealer by mail. Kerry Toyota, Florence, Ky 859-581-0911
