Unhappy motor stress

i have a 84 se 2m4. the engine that came with it has a piston knock in num 1 and 2 cyl. so i got an other engine outta a s 10 i tore that one apart and found out that one of the cyl was rusted due to being left outside for 3 months .... not to worried about that one i only paid a case of beer for the whole engine with tranny. anyway now i need to make a decision do i fix the piston knock or do i punch out the cyl and resleve it and hope everythings ok .....at the moment i jus want to get the car running and on the road then i'll worry about making it a rice eater. i'm also trying to find the gt rear quarters, glass or no glass doesn't matter preferably with out. if anyone has any suggestions for the engine plz i'm all ears. i'll even concider getting another engine as long as it's not going to have to be riped apart and doen't brake the bank.

Re: motor stress

The 2.5 from the S-10 won't fit the P-body, anyway. The blocks are significantly different.
Rebuilding the original is not that difficult, nor expensive. Unless the "piston knock" you describe has damaged the bore, simply borng it and replacing all the worn internals will take care of the problem.
Be very careful about what you get, to be certain everything fits. Your engine is a 2.5 "R" code. Stuff from "U" codes and RWD won't fit.

For body parts, call Dave (The Ferncliff Flash) at Dave's Auto Parts, Ferncliff, VA. The number is (434) 589-3642. I know he has several GTs of questionable condition, and may have the quarters you're looking for. Ask him about "FearArrow"...

Re: motor stress

If you are planning on making a coupe into a fast back (GT quarters), you will need lots more than just the quarter panels. It can be done, but you would want a complete rear end of a GT body just to get all the parts you will need. Depending on what part of the country you are in, lots of parts places.

the 2.5 block that i got from a buddy is the same block and the water pump and the starter jus have to be changed over to the other sidean everything should be good. now as to the parts and ppl that you guys have recomended to me, i live in toronto canada so us parts are hard for me to get and will cost for parts is different.
now also i found a website www.fierostore.com and it has everything listed in it but i'm not sure if it's canadian or us.
i've been lookin at the 2 engines alot latly and i think i might be able to swap parts over .... but yet for a crank i need to oversize the bearings.
i dunno i'm sort of up in arms at the moment.

Re: motor stress

www.fierostore.com is in the states. Good sevice. If you have the part numbers www.gmpartsdirect.com is another good source. However shipping gets pricey.
