wiper/fan fault

Hi,

got a problem with my '98 Renault Megane Classic, it started with the
windscreen wipers being very slow when switched on, I first thought the
motor was on it's way out, since then the wipers have started running on there own when switched off, I have to switch them on then off again to stop them, and also when I switch the heating fan on, the
fan doesn't run , but the wipers start up,

anyone any ideas ?

Re: wiper/fan fault

Hi

I have the same problem with a Megane too. Did either of you manage to suss the problem out?

I find that the fan control acts as a riostat for the wipers. If the wipers are turned off on the stalk, they can be controlled by the fan knob. But the fan doesn`t work. Sometimes the fan starts up and then the problem goes for a while and then suddenly comes back.

I would really like to know if anyone has managed to find a cure for this.

Thanks

Re: wiper/fan fault

Seems to be a common problem.
I have exactly the same symptoms. Has anyone solved it yet?

I have ordered myself a workshop manual so I can trace the Electrics in order to find out what would cause this. Usually this type of thing is caused by a bad earth or corroded fuses box contacts.

WIll post here if I find a cure.

Ken

Re: wiper/fan fault

I found the fault and repaired it.

I simply earthed the wiper motor and it cured the fault.
