wiper/fan fault
Hi,
got a problem with my '98 Renault Megane Classic, it started with the windscreen wipers being very slow when switched on, I first thought the motor was on it's way out, since then the wipers have started running on there own when switched off, I have to switch them on then off again to stop them, and also when I switch the heating fan on, the fan doesn't run , but the wipers start up, anyone any ideas ? |

Re: wiper/fan fault
HI Josie Did u ever sort your problem out as i have just brought a megane classic which has the same fault you described. Would also be grateful if anyone has any ideas as to why the wipers come on when the fan or AC are switched on!???? Weve checked the wiring and everything seems to be cool

Re: wiper/fan fault
Hi
I have the same problem with a Megane too. Did either of you manage to suss the problem out? I find that the fan control acts as a riostat for the wipers. If the wipers are turned off on the stalk, they can be controlled by the fan knob. But the fan doesn`t work. Sometimes the fan starts up and then the problem goes for a while and then suddenly comes back. I would really like to know if anyone has managed to find a cure for this. Thanks |

Re: wiper/fan fault
Seems to be a common problem.
I have exactly the same symptoms. Has anyone solved it yet? I have ordered myself a workshop manual so I can trace the Electrics in order to find out what would cause this. Usually this type of thing is caused by a bad earth or corroded fuses box contacts. WIll post here if I find a cure. Ken |

Re: wiper/fan fault
I found the fault and repaired it.
I simply earthed the wiper motor and it cured the fault. |
