bug won't start

i bought a 2001 bug 3 months ago. i went out of town for ten days & now i can't seem to get it to start? it turns over like it's getting juice but it won't kick. some one told me i might need to reprogram it. if so how is that done? any ideas?

no never. i jumped it tonight & it still wouldn't start.

What engine? If it's 2.0 can you pull a plug wire to see if you have spark? Do you hear the fuel pump run for a second when you first turn the key to on position?
