LT1 v L69

Which motor is better/cheaper for mods. Is it worth the extra money for a LT1?

Re: LT1 v L69

in the main part of the camaro forum right now they have a thread debating the tpi and lt1, and also if u search past threads theres plenty of them...i would think the gen 1 small block would be cheaper although that depends on which route your goin w/ it (street or 500hp drag only car) and i know theres more parts for the gen 1

You can put an LT1 intake on a gen I SBC and use the TPI sensors & such. John Millican sells the conversion here http://lt1intake.com/services.htm

Re: LT1 v L69

maybe hes actally talking about the L69.

if so, its a (Real) 5.0L engine. and your much better off with an l89 or an lt1

Re: LT1 v L69

so the LT1 vs the DZ302??????? for a daily driver, get the LT1, the 302 was not made for street manners.

Re: LT1 v L69

If you are looking for big power, you'll end up spending about the same amount for either... basically the l98 is a great engine, but the intake blows nuts... sure it builds some torque but at a large loss of HP... If you go with the 98, at least get an aftermarket intake setup on it... That with a small cam will bring you to about the LT1 power level... From there, it depends on how you pursue it... Most of the time you can use all SBC parts so neither will cost you more than the other from that point on...

as stated though, replacement LT1 parts are often more expensive than replacement sbc parts...
