First real race in my new ride...

So im out driving around in my new 1988 Toyota Celica Alltrac Trubo...Im just aimlessly driving around...I might have attracted some racers by my short bursts of acceleration...Well anyways...Im going 70 on the highway (I80) and im just going with the flow of traffic...and this nice red 1995 prelude vtec (Talked to him later so i know it was a 95) pulls up next to me...He drops it into 4th (Short gearing on those ludes) and guns it...he slows down then i do the same to stay with him...He rolls down his window (I Had myne down) and yells 3 honks on me...I nod...So here it comes..Im waiting for him to honk, But then he yells back, ''No! Wait! Go down to 45 and we will race from there...'' So i do...now i dunno if he is really going to race...So im in 3rd..ready to go...he honks off this tiem....I start to rev it a lil at the first honk...Second honk im at reving it a lot...3rd honk a floor it and let off the clutch...I go shooting foward...then I bog down a bit...At the start i was about 3 cars on him...He is coming up fast and boost finaly recovers...Now we are even till I get to the redline of 3rd (7100) and i shift...His rear bumper is now at myhood...He was still in vtec...then he shifts and I get ahead by like 3 cars now...Im pulling all through 4th..I shift at 6500 rpm...I don't wait for the redline because my turbo does not pull that hard after 6500...And I can spool up better in 5th...So right after I shift he is coming up again...He is dead even with me...In at about 5500 rpm and im doing about 110-120 (Did not really look...Was not paying attention to that...now he is even with me and it sounds like it is about time for him to shift...Well...He was in vtec in 5th....So he did not have much juice left...I hit full boost pressure...I take it up to 125...Im 2 cars on him...I shut down...So does he...It was a great race...Preludes are cool...and pretty fast...My car has 190 horse and tourque stock...A prelude vtec has about 190 horse stock but I think like 140 torque? Well anyways it was a good race ...So I get off at the next exit...Im thirsty...And he follows me..I Don't know why yet...When i stop I get out slowly...He gets out and is like ''Bitchin' car dude...I did not know there was such a thing as a turbo celica..Is it stock?'' I go '' Yeah...They are pretty rare...'' He jumps in with ''This is the first time i lost! Can you pop the hood!??'' So I do...and I run in the gas station for a drink..I get him a soda too...I throw it at him and go I gotta go man, Peace...He goes '' Hope to race you again...I might mod this baby''...Nice race...Cool guy...He almost won...But loosing to a lude is nothing to be ashamed about...The rest of my cruse sucked...No takers for races..and I burned up half a tank...Oh well racing costs money too...

nice kill, my boy is gettin a celica soon too, but its not the turbo one..its a 92 i think... 130 hp??

Yep the non turbo celicas in 92 had 130 horse...They get to 60 in about 8 seconds with a stick...there is a lot of mods for that engine bay...mods and swaps...

Near jersey, The poconos PA...And i think he had a bad shift when I pulled ahead...Or fell out of lift...Or does my redlind sound like BS? Huh?

really...i dont see why you were in 3rd at 45...im willing to bet that ur car tops 2nd somewhere around 60...thats why you bogged down a little off the line...and as for him fallin that far behind that fast after u shifted into 4th then he must have completely missed that shift...really i dont see how u gained 3 cars on him that fast from the start...but then lost it all again unless he sucks at driving...

nice kill buddy, the first one is always the one you'll reminise about and remember the most. I must say i am surprised a 1988 celica beat a 95 vtec prelude, good kill mate.

Nice kill. How fast is your car (0-60)? Sounds fast.

From what I have heard the 0-60 time on it is about 6.5-7 seconds...Yeah Im not a very good shifter...That is why I had it in 3rd...Im not that good at shifting fast...I think he wasn't in gear off the line...Or changed...Because I did not expect to pull from the line...I knew i should have been is second, But I did not want to have a bad shift and have teh race be over...I think the guy driving was not that good a driver ethier because a vtec lude is prolly faster then my car...

Yeah but his car weighs like 300 pounds less, but i guess my 50 pound feet of torque makes up for that...
