'89 T/A upgrades on a budget...

I have a 350 Trans-Am and am looking for some easy upgrades that won't break my wallet. My main question is can I put the larger throttle body on it without upgrading too much more? Or will I need bigger injectors/fuel pump/ anything else that I didn't think a bigger throttle body would effect? Also, if the larger throttle body useable, how much bigger? In other words, what millimeter throttle body would be a good upgrade without too many other upgrades to accomodate it? Also, the Superchips, are they any good? Any noticable change in feel or speed? Anything else that doesn't involve major modifications or large quantities of money?

p.s. I plan on having headers and exhaust run...possibly removing air pump and misc. crap involved in that while Im at it.

Thanks.

Re: '89 T/A upgrades on a budget...

Well creep since no one else took a stab at this one. I will give my 2 cents from back in my L98 Vette days. I went with a 52MM TB, The stock being a 48 and the 52MM wouldn't requiring any porting and the 58 would be overkill. While larger injectors are not really needed with this mod. its always a good idea to modify a car in equal steps to create a better gain and take advatage of each mod as much as possible. So you can cheaply and easily increase fuel flow with a adjustable fuel pressure regulator(you will need a pressure guage to set this usually cost around $40). I would also look into some more effiecient runner's summit sells a couple different style for around $300.00. Intake is always a area you want to improve. So CAI or descreened MAF will help somewhat. ECM tune/chip will do wonder to take advantage of your improvements. Headers like you mentioned should be done but also focus on the whole exhaust(like a catback system). Gears are a great bang for the buck also. Also you will want to test out some TPS setting changes. I can't remember what I set mine at with my Vette but I remember that made a pretty big improvement from the stock setting. Igntion system is also a area that will do wonders such as one of those high output coil/bronze cap and rotor kits. Also make sure your car is up to date with matainance cause if you have spark plugs or wires or a clogged/dirty air or fuel filter. You will not be able to notice any improvements you might have made. Good Luck and keep us posted with what you have done.
