Cigar(ette) Lighter

I attempted to power up a 120 watt TV via a 150 Watt power inverter from my cigar lighter. The TV powered up for about five seconds then the power to the lighter was lost. I checked the fuses and all of them are fine. I have been told there might be an inline fuse. The Haynes does not show the cigar lighter on the eletrical shcematics so I cant trace it there.. It does not appear that any other electrical functions were effected. Any ideas how I can trouble shoot? Thanks

Re: Cigar(ette) Lighter

Check for a broken, burned, or grounded wire, and make sure that the connection on the back of the lighter is good. Also be sure that the lighter base is firmly attached to the dash. In many cases, the base of the lighter only has a single wire going to it, and the base itself is grounded to the metal behind the dash by it's mounting screw or screw on base.

If you have a VOM, you can trace the wires w/o a schematic. You can also use you book the manually trace the wires by description. If there is an in-line fuse, you will find it. However, I don't know of an inline fuse for the factory lighter.
