Isuzu Rodeo 94 engine problems
The engine in my 94 Isuzu Rodeo is having some problems.
It is a V6 3.2L 4x4 with a automatic transmission. The problem happened several days ago when I was making a long trip following someone that I knew. Before I made the trip, I replaced all the spark plugs. The engine was running perfect untill half way when I noticed the problem. When ever I drove off from a stop sign, I noticed the engine stuttering like it was badly misfiring. The problem got worse when I pulled out on a highway to speed up. The engine acted like it wanted to quit on me, it backfiring and missing out bad. I bearly made it. I tried fixing the problem by buying a new Trasnducer with new vaccume hoses. The engine ran better, but not like it should. Now when I push on the gas a little, I hear air rushing threw a small hole where the engine is. It sounds like the noise is coming from the transducer that I have thoughts of acidently putting it on backwards because of that. I can make the air noise go away by pressing the gas enough, or by not pressing the gas at all. I also still notice a lack of power and the less ocassional backfire. I tried replacing the fuel filter and unpluging the battery to reset the computer, which did not work. What do you think I should check or do?

DW- It sounds like you've diagnosed the problem. It sounds like you have a massive vacuum leak. You will get stumbling, misfiring & hesitation from this due to the super lean condition it causes. What transducer did you replace? Is it the one for the vac operated EGR valve? (1993-1997 only) You may have knocked a vac hose loose during the sparkplug changeout.

Isuzu Rodeo 94 engine problems
I noticed that there was a hose knocked off when I was checking the engine. In fact, a hose broke off with the fitting on the transducer. To fix this problem, I replaced all the hoses and the transducer.
The transducer that I replaced is a VSV (Vaccuum Switching Valve) The valve has EGR and VSV on the two ports up top, and the third one going down in the engine. Thanks
