shocks and struts

im looking to get a little more performance out of my suspension by changing the shocks and struts but instead of putting the same thing back in id rather put something a little stiffer in. what other cars have compatible parts for this dilemma?

Re: shocks and struts

Totally depends what type of car you have ... for example, I believe mk3 Vr6 models had stiffer springs than the stock 2.0 models.

I met a kid at my Uni who swapped newer springs from a Saab 9000 into his older 9000 model.

Your best bet would be aftermarket though, you can get a good cup kit setup (stiffer/lower shocks + springs) for $400-600

If I ever have $ I'd love to do that for my own Golf.

sweet, I love Fox wags

Unfortunately, not the best vehicle for aftermarket suspension .. tire rack doesn't have anything other than some non-adjustable front shocks, and Potterman's has nothing ...

hopefully someone Fox-smart will drop in here.

yea i like my fox too but she is hating me like some kind of B****. right now im re-doing the transmission and drive shafts and she needs new exhaust and lights and all sorts of shit.

by the way im trying to think of a good name. im looking for something that fit rally style version of the fox wagon... think bigger tires/ wheels, roof rack extra lights, rear drive, maybe V6 , black with some kind of graphics all over, and fast.

(Of course you wanna replace your shocks and struts as well - esp. the shock and strut MOUNTS - VERY important before doing this
I already bought these - this is the real deal Working on getting bigger rims though (I think I've seen as big as 17"-18" but I think 17" will be just fine Trying to go for that 'air-ride' off-road feel These certainly made a world of difference - definately worth the money Hope this helps!!
