my 88 integra wont start. the battery is new and the alternator tested fine. the fuel pump is still functioning as far as i know. i still hear it when i turn the key. the car tries to start but wont turn over all the way. it sounds like it is starving for fuel but not sure. i talked to others and they said it might be the coil pack. what do you think.

Try locating the starter - should be close to the front right wheel.
Then have someone turn the key, and as it's going, tap the starter with a hard object - not too hard - but enough to give it some good jolts. If it turns over after a few wacks, you probably need a new starter - as the bristles are worn. If it doesn't start after say 7 or 8 seconds of doing this - then .. uh...try something else I guess.

It could be your starter. My dad had the same problem with his car and that was it.
