Unhappy blowing fuel pump fuse Ford Windstar

Here's the problem...the fuel pump fuse in the power distribution box under the hood keeps blowing when ever we drive our 98 Windstar in the rain. Last night it blew 16 times in a 150 mile trip! Any suggestions? I've checked the connections and wiring from the engine compartment to the pump on the top of the fuel tank. They all look good as new. I've used contact cleaner on all three connections and also tried packing with lithium grease. The underside of the van is very clean almost no corrosion or dirt.

Re: blowing fuel pump fuse Ford Windstar

You may have a cracked wire in the feed back to the fuel pump....one that you haven't found.... a condition worsened in the rain. You might try running a separate temporary feed wire....use a separate in-line fuse as the problem may be in the fuse base. Sounds like you've done some good detective work up to now.

Unlikely, but you may be wrong about the rain association... and the pump is about to go belly-up.
