Re: intake sensor chips work?

No. If you want to chip your LS, go with the SCT flasher. www.fordpartsnetwork.com

Re: intake sensor chips work?

Average increases without detonation (knocking) are about 18hp. We are still VERY, VERY early in this venture and the tunes are still evolving so that number may yet increase!

This is the best power/price mod we've got so far.
SCT ($325) = 18hp or $18/hp
Intake kit ($300+)= 12hp or $25/hp
Exhaust kit ($500+)= 10hp or $50/hp

Re: intake sensor chips work?

Yes. Don't know any V6s yet running it. There are some interested partys, though.

This flasher should finally allow the LS community to make streetable blowers a reality and will also allow us to tailor the various electronically controlled aspects of the powertrain to suit our needs.

For instance, I'm working on altering the converter lockup map so it doesn't hunt on our 45mph roads around here. I want to investigate to very real possiblity of increasing steering boost at speed. I'm going to alter shift feel to be on the soft side during low-throttle driving and on the hard side during high-throttle driving. I'm going to tune out my part-throttle ping that the dealership says not to worry about. Etc. Etc.

I'm doing more than the basic package will allow, though. I put up the extra cash for the full "Pro Racer" software package. It was an extra $400 that I consider money well-spent.

Re: intake sensor chips work?

with the programmer are you given any documentation on the pcm codes or is it trial and error? I have been very curious about tuning myself but have never done and do not know anyone in my area that does.

It's just a box that can hold upto 3 new tunes and a copy of your stock PCM code - so you can flash back to stock if needed.

The tunes are supplied by the dealer you buy it from - so the flasher is a distribution method for the tuner to get his tunes into your car.

You need to check with the dealer to see if they have your PCM code on file - to build the tune from.

He's my original thread on it -> http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=330497
