New Guy! Educate Me

Hey guys

My name is Justin, I am in the process of purchasing my first jap spec mr2... The MR2 I am purchasing is the 1990 JAPANESE MR2 GT. My questions are:

- Arent the GT models in japan only the ones after 93 ?
- I want the 240hp JAP GT? is this the one i am getting ?
- Could someone tell me the performance stats for the different models in the MR2 range,

BASICALLY DO ALL GT's FROM JAPAN HAVE 240hp and run the qtr mile at mid to high 13's

I just want to make sure I am getting what I am about to pay for ? I know their are 2 types of GT's the 220hp and 240hp. I am hoping for the 240hp one since i am aware this beast does 13.6-13.8 quarter mile stock.

All your help will be appreciated, I used the search feature but couldnt find the right answers.

Dont hurt me I am such a NOOB

Thank You

Justin

Re: New Guy! Educate Me

i know that the one i am getting from japan is a GT and its turbo, so its most likely the GT-S right! is that the one with 240hp and runs the qtr mile in mid to high 13's....

Re: New Guy! Educate Me

guys are the qtr mile specs for these vehicles similiar because i read once that the 220hp GT Turbo does the qtr mile in 14.5 stock but the 240hp GT Turbo does it from 13.666 to 13.9....

I just wanna know the answer cause i wont buy the 90 model and i will then just save up for the 94 onwards model from japan.

Re: New Guy! Educate Me

the revII engine (90-93 in japan) is the same as the usdm engine, the performance difference being that it can utilize higher octane and has an ecu that is tuned differently.

the revIII engine (94-97/8 in japan) has a different intake, different turbo and just based off of those two things can have a higher state of tuning.

Re: New Guy! Educate Me

You keep mentioning that you want to run "13.6~13.9," but you do not need the 3rd gen 3SGTE to do that.

Any generation will get you into the 13s with minimal mods.

I see you are in Australia, I suspect getting JDM stuff is going to much easier for you than it is for those of us in the U.S.
