Never heard of "blowing" a thermostat. You mean it defaults to open? That's what they do when they fail. It might be a good idea for you to explain the problem in more detail.

Where are you getting these thermostats from? Maybe your supplier has a bad lot.
What are the symptoms? Why do you think it is a bad thermostat?

well i changed the thermostat again and put a brandnew rad, put the best coolant into her and it still almost overheats and just before the temp gauge hits the redline it will drop all the way to the cold line then i start getting heat, i called my uncle who owned a rad shop and he told me to get the heatercore flushed. man, 40 bucks in coolant down the drain . sorry about the lack of symtoms guys but i was a little pressed for time lastnight and couldn't get to much into detail. if this flush dosn't work i think im going to cry.

Re: blow a thermostat every month??

Do both hoses going to the heater core get hot? Back flush the heater core separately from the rest of the cooling system. Disconnect one heater hose and plug it off, then disconnect the other hose and plug it off. This will save most of your new coolant. Use a garden hose to back flush the core. If you want to get really ambitious, go to the hardware store and buy 2' of 5/8" inner diameter hose and a male end for a garden hose. Attach one end of your 2' hose to the outlet of the heater core and attach the other end to a garden hose, then turn the faucet on full.
What temp t-stat are you using? The way to test a thermostat is to put it in a pot of water. Use a candy thermometer to measure the temp of the water while you are heating it on the stove. Watch the thermostat and note what temperature it opens at.
Does your radiator fan come on when it is suppose to?
What is the water to coolant ratio?
Did you check the coolant level after warming up the motor with the heater on?
Is your radiator cap good?
Are you radiator hoses new?
Have you noticed any other leaks in the system?

all new hoses, i have put a 185 thermostat in it, it had a 195 last time but canadian winter call for that sometimes, i bought the coolant pre mixed, i did test it and it was good from -40 to 120 degrees c. i made sure to run the car and when the thermostat opened up i did top off the rad so no air locks. my fan kicks in when it's sapost to and the water pump is working fine( 1 lees thing to change, thank god).this over heating thing dosn't happen every time(2 out of 5 times) so i will try the heatercore flush and see what happens from there.
