mercury villager 96,Mileage 250k km

I had this engine light on while i was driving,before that i notice it was not going more than 80-90 km range and feel power loss,it's running fine before.
Just one day before i did oil change,Is this some thing that might cause this ?

usually your check engine light means something in your emission system is faulty. once your light comes on it stores a code. go to locale pep boys, autozone and
they will read the code for you free. thats the first step
do that before you start guessing or $$$ will add up
