alternator ?

i have a 94 cavalier.....runs fine....the other night i got in it after driving all day and the battery light was on and the lights were kinda dim......after i got home and let it sit for a while i tried it and the lights are fine now but the battery light is still on.....is it the alternator or could it be something else.

Your alternator is under or over charging. Usually under. The indicater light means you are running off of the battery. You will need to have the charging system checked since it can be damaged by a bad battery or loose connection. Most parts stores will do this for free. Good Luck.

agree. Your alternator or belt is failing. Your battery is not getting a proper charge. Simple to change the alternator, new one around 40 bucks. Takes about 30 mins.

i replaced the alternator today and battery light went off and lights are bright again...........$85 but it was worth it to know it is fixed
