exhaust leak experience

well, got my 85 lesabre for free about a month ago, and it had an exhaust leak around the exhaust ports ( where they have a line going into a piece that connets to the air pump ). the piping material on there had corroded away. so i take a dremel, and cut of all of the pipe right where it goes into the headers, and unbolt the fittings that screwed into the header. (sorry i do not know the names of all of these parts.. lol). well the right side went well, all 4 of the fittings came out nicely. the left side was a different story, the first one came out nicely, but on the remaining ones, the bolt snapped off when i tried to unbolt them, leaving me with just alittle bit of pipe sticking out to work with, the fitting still lodged in the header. tried an easy-out tool, that only warped the pipe so much that it twisted off. so on two of them i found a self-tapping bolt to screw into the pipe, but the one that had the pipe twisted off, i had to drill out a hole, tap it, and fit a plug in. somehow the threads that i tapped got stripped though, and the plug only got alittle past finger tight before it would loose its grip, so i used JB weld to hold it in place. whew.. thats about it. i hope that the JB weld holds it, if not, i will have to tap a bigger hole and use a bigger plug. anyway my only question is how do i determine what is making the Service Engine Light come on? also, there is a vacuum line coming from the air filter that i have no idea where it goes, i think it might fit onto a thing thats bolted on the carb, but the nipple is corroded and broken in half.

The connector mentioned is located under/behind the ash tray. You simply jump a wire between the two slots in the connector and turn the ignition to on (don't start the car). The EMC goes into diagnostic mode and outputs any fault codes it has seen.

The procedure to reset the ECM codes is to disconnect the battery for 30 seconds.

well i just did the diagnosis thing, and it came up with throttle position sensor. what exactly do i do to investigate this? thanks

thanks for the info, i read it, sounds good. so im guessing the tps is right around the carb. could the tps also be causing it to be hard to start? whenever i goto start it after its been sitting for acouple days i takes about 2 tries of cranking it for 3 seconds. also, if i have any vacuum lines that arent connected, i can just plug them up right.

well i just started the car again, just to let it run, and i just decided to check the service engine light again, and now its complaining about the oxygen sensor =|. oh well
