'92 engine swap?

Has anyone done an engine change on a '92 Jetta? I found a Wolfsburgh in great shape (body) but the engine is blown. I can get a used engine (100,000 KMS/60,00 Miles) locally but its a 1.8 litre. Will I have any trouble with this swap, do I need the 16V engine for the harness and other components to work properly? I was sort of hoping it would be just a quick change regardless of the new engine size. Those 16V motors are hard to come by. If anyone has done it could you give me a heads up on how long it takes, what to look out for, and anything else you can think of. I'm looking for a commuter car and have lots of time in (and under) Volkswagons. I like how they run and the availability of parts. The engine work doesn't really scare me, I've just never done it before. My '83 GTI had pretty well everything else replaced though. Mike.

250000 KMs and still running great.
Body is perfect with no rust eventhough driven in winter.
Looking forward to another 1/4 million KMs.
