I have a 2003 GTI 1.8T and the service engine light just came on. I was wondering if anyone out there knew of a way to check the code yourself? I did this before on a 2002 Nissan Altima, and it was quite easy. All it tooks was some carefully timed turns of the key and stepping on the gas pedal.
Can anyone help me out here. I would hate to have to bring it somewhere to get this done. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!! |

Re: Check Engine Light or SES Light HELP!!!!!
hate to tell you this but with japanese cars alot of them have those sort of trix u can get away with. but i m not sure about the euros. most scan tools u buy dont even come with the info to check the check engine light on the car.
short answer if there is a trick it will take alot of seaching to find, but i would suggest just going to a dealership if u don't hav a friend with a scan tool.
