Fuel pump and filter location?

All right, what I'm wanting to know is if the fuel pump is located beneath the rear seats, and is it accessible by removing the lower sections of the seats? Also, where exactly is the fuel filter located? I've never really messed with a Saturn before, but I've had quite a bit of experience with imports. BTW: It's a 1997 Saturn SC1. Thanks in advance.

is this about the 97's hard start problem?

the tank must be droped to access the pump. the filter is in the engine compartment on the left fender. look under the brake master cylinder, go in thru the wheel well.

That's a bitch that the tank has to come down to get the pump out. I figured that they were like other late model imports and such with the access hole beneath the back seats. But yeah, this one's got a really bad hard start problem, it's very rare that it will start when it's cold, and it usually takes two to three tries to get it to start up. Usually, what I do is turn the key on, let the pump prime, switch the key off, and do it once more, and it usually starts up. Anyways, thanks a bunch.

you will the first person i know who replaced the pump for this, let me know how it goes. if it was me i would just hook up a push button override to the fuel pump relay to prime it.

Well, if it were my car, I would have overrode the pump relay, but it belongs to a friend of mine who don't know a whole lot about cars. As soon as the pump is purchased, I'll start on the repair, and I'll let you know how it goes.

Okay, well, I don't think I'll be having to fix the car hence the fact that my friend ended up driving out a flooded road and totaled the whole car.

Yeah, it was sheer genious. Now that car's going to need a lot more than just a new fuel pump.
