Talking Got blown away, but the ending was worth it!

Happy New Year!

Alright, I went out for a cruise tonight, because most of my buds are either gone, or spending the evening with their gals. So I went off doing the lone wolf thing, cruising about on state st. The evening wasn't to cold, somewhat clear and cloudy. Nice night for a cruise.

So I finally get up to state in Orem, and I met up with this nice looking Talon. Wasn't sure if it was a TSI or ESI, but it was black, dropped, with a nice set of wheels complimenting the entire ride. Inside I noticed a few gauges on the A pillar. Didn't bother to take a closer look.

So at our first red light, I took of slowly as did he. I stayed ahead for a while, just casually cruising, he would pull ahead of me then fall back, and then he would pull ahead again. This continued for a few blocks. But I had no idea what I was up against. So I kinda smiled, and dropped a gear thinking that I was going to try and take this guy for a run. But before I could even get started, light changed red and we slowed down.

I rolled down my window, and looked over. I tried to get his attention, but my efforts were drowned out by the blaring music inside his vehicle. So I rolled up my window and continued on the same way as I had before when the light changed green. No more than 5 secs after we passed the intersection, this grey Neon (2000+) came flying past the two of us. It then slowed down, several guys were packed inside looking over. I glanced inside the Talon, and to my surprise there was this really hot blonde sitting shotgun. AAHHH, that's what they saw.

The Neon revvs, pretty loud and decent grumble to it. They took off, and then slowed down again. Didn't seem to grab the girls attention, but the driver was looking in their direction. He looked over at me, and winked and nodded. He revved his engine, and caught my attention when I heard the hiss of his BOV. Well shit, good thing I didn't take a run at him, would of been over before it started. He then takes off, leaving us behind. But luckily the light turned red in all of our favors. Oh the "racing gods" were favoring us tonight. J/P.

Finally we were all lined up waiting impatiently for the light to change. Kinda funny, I looked at each of the drivers and they were both staring at the crossing lights to change yellow, then red. Each of us had our cars waiting to launch. Finally light changed green, and we launched, I was lucky enough to get the jump on both of them, each spun their tires, and I got a good car length jump, but it was over all too soon. I suddenly looked to my right, and saw the Talon blaze by me, shift to 2nd with a pssshhh, and then it was gone. I had my own battle with the Neon, for about 2 secs, and it was gone as well.

About 1/2 a mile later I caught the Talon at a red light, the neon turned at the same light, as I rolled up. He looked over at me a laughed. I rolled down my window and just commented on how much I got my ass kicked. The dude was pretty cool. I asked what he had done. Basically just added a bigger Turbo, injectors. You know, goodies to make it go faster and what not. I smiled, and said nice car. His girl glanced over, and winked and waved. God she was hot! I waved back, and they both took off when the light changed.

Nothing much else happened the rest of the evening. Streets were completely dead. I only saw one cop the entire night. I guess they didn't even feel the need to be out this evening. It felt nice to "break loose" seeing that I haven't in a while. It was worth it. I'd say a good death indeed. Even if I lost to a Neon too. Kind of a nice way to start off the New Year, record 0 wins 1 loss. Maybe I'll keep a tally and see how I do this year. Well boys enjoy the story. Late...

No it was a 2g. Very sexy car. After seeing that one, I might consider getting one. Pretty hard to find though. I'd have to go down to Vegas, or California to get a descent one. Late...

Re: Got blown away, but the ending was worth it!

No they are the same. The difference is the rear end and spoiler of both cars. Actually the 1g were the same as well. But also, Plymouth also had the laser. So the Laser, Talon, and Eclipse were all the same the 1g. 2g are the Talon and the Eclipse. Still look generally the same, but performance wise I think the Talon has more guts to it, unless you compare it to the Eclipse GSX, then its different. Late...

Re: Got blown away, but the ending was worth it!

eclipses and talons are the same 2G cars, just diff looks and no turbo spoiler for the talons, cause they have a diff spoiler. In the 2G models, they made both FWD(GST and Tsi FWD), and AWD(GSX and Tsi AWD). Both the AWD cars for the 2G were the same up till 98, becuase that is when the talon was discontinued and the eclipse in 99 has different things like white gauges and a different pattern to the fabric. As it stands right now, I would rather have a 1G, 91 AWD beast cause FWD hates the launch, and hates the rain even more. But I can only ask for so much...

...just to point out that generally gauges on a dsm mean trouble for you, that means he's got enough power (if turbo'd) to need some fuel tuning...which is more like big trouble

sorry, but i've never heard a nice sounding neon...i mean...its a neon....

btw no shame in learning a few things ...those 2g's are sexy aren't they

Re: Got blown away, but the ending was worth it!

Yes indeed they are. I've always admired the body style on them. I would prefer the 2g's over the other styles any day.

The deal with the A pillar and gauges is all too common here in Utah. Alot of people have gauges, and usually they are just Volt, Oil, or Air/Fuel gauges. Really they're just for looks. That's why I didn't pay too much attention to them.

As for the Neon. It was descent, not great, but descent. Most have an exhaust that sounds like there is a bee inside it buzzing around. But, this Neon actually had some "growl" to it. LOL. Late...

Re: Got blown away, but the ending was worth it!

Winning is always nice, but a loss like the one you got tonight isn't a bad one. no better way to bring in the new year than a good race, and the hot girl in a badass car doesn't hurt much either. totaled my car a couple weeks ago so i'm carless as of right now. well, make sure to give your thanks to the car gods when you go to bed tonight.
