Question LED hooked to a factory alarm?

I just got an LED scanner, and my first thought was that I would simply hook it up to a switch and turn it on when I left my car. Then I remembered I have an alarm, lol. Are the factory alarms capable of turning on an LED scanner? and if so, can somebody tell me what wire I need to hook it into. The scanner has a positive, a ground, and a single blue wire which goes to the alarm. Thanks... Rick

Re: LED hooked to a factory alarm?

if you have the alarm light in the dash you may be able to run the led box off it. guess it depends on if the box needs constant to the turn on lead or not.

Re: LED hooked to a factory alarm?

I thought about that, but the light only stays on for 30 seconds, until the alarm is activated, then it goes off. If I cant do it, I can always hook it up to a switch, because Ive got a few switches im not using anymore. In fact I'll just do that since its so easy, but if anybody knows a way to hook it to the alarm please let me know so I can re wire it. Thanks guys.
