Bose radio question
Is it possible to install a factory Bose stereo into a car without having the whole Bose package? I'm looking to buy a factory Cassette/CD stereo but there seems to be more Bose radios than regular Delco ones; so if it'll work, that will open up my options.

Re: Bose radio question
I have never looked at it in the Intrigue. As I recall, in the F-Body and Y-Body cars the "Blows" system used a totally different setup where the amplifiers were located outside of the head unit and you could not just slap the Bose head unit in a non-Bose car unless you got all of the other parts too.
Assume this car is the same unless you find someone for sure who has done it successfully. |

Re: Bose radio question
I'll believe it. Actually, I finally went to a local salvage yard and got a bargin on a regular, Delco CD/Cassette player. The installation is extremelly easy and my install went will...aside from a 10 minute delay when I dropped a screw down into the center console.

BOSE Radio
The BOSE radio internal amp is turned off and it relies on the external amp to drive the speakers. I'm getting ready to install a BOSE system in my '99 Intrigue. I need the BOSE system to drive the new touch-screen navigation radio. The old, 2004 model, navigation radio has the internal amp turned on and it does not need an external amp. The new, 2005 model touch-screen, need an external amp.

Re: Bose radio question
I consider it time and money well spent. It took over a year to get it done but I have learned alot about the car and about GM navigation units. I even installed one in a '98 Olds Aurora. I have the plain GX model and there are a few other things I owuld to get done, like replace the side mirrors with heated ones, install a overhead console DVD player ... I'm not trying to "pimp" my ride but I do want to make it as confortable for me as I can and still keep it looking stock.

How in the world do you get an 05 gm nav in 99 intrigue? Don't the 99's use the e&c bus, while the 05 uses class 2? I would love to be able to do this, but the connectors and the data transfer protocols are entirely different.

You can put one in your aurora, as they were optional with the bose system. Just make sure you get it from a compatible car. I have no clue which gm cars shared navs with auroras, but it would have to be one before 04 (or maybe before 05), as gm updated them.

Re: Re: Re: Bose radio question
There are two ways to put a Nav radio in the 2001 Aurora.
The first way is to get a nav radio made for the car, and I may have one. The second way is to get a nav radio from a 2004 or 2005 GM truck and replace the radio connector in you car. The Aurora uses a connector type called Dock & Lock and it is unique to the Aurora. The GM nav radios use a standard 24-pin connector. If you go the GM truck way you need to make sure you get the corect type of nav radio as there are three types, two for BOSE amps and one that works without any amps. Quote:
