Radio Error

I have a 2001 GA, and the CD player stopped reading CD's. It would spit any CD out and constantly say "CHECK CD". I took the stereo out and cleaned it out finding that the previous owner had spilled Coke on everything. There was also a broken rivet that was supposed to be a pivot point for the CD loading mechanism. I fixed this, and reassembled the radio into the car. Now only the time will display, and "ERROR". It seems that somehow the main power from the ignition is not being initiated. If the radio still worked, then that would be fine, but something isn't right. I am pretty sure it isn't the THEFTLOCK. Does anyone have any suggestions??
