Question 4 Speed or 5 Speed in 1998 XLT?

Hi all,
This is my first post in this forum, as I have only had questions about my Buick in the past.
Last week, we were in an accident which totalled our '98 Explorer, basic model, for the year. The truck had the 4 litre OHV engine, and had gone 230,000 km pretty much problem free as far as drivetrain, Tranny, Engine were concerned; just the common piston slap. We had the Tranny flushed and filter change and fill at 168,000. We have zoned in on another '98, an XLT with 155,000 km on it, and this truck is in like new condition. It has the SOHC engine in it, unlike the past truck. When we had the Tranny serviced on the old one, the mechanic told me that it had one of the better Trannys available for that truck. I have no idea if the one in the new truck is a 4 or 5 speed, and can't check it out until Tuesday. Did the 98 XLT's come with a 4 or 5 speed, or was this optional?
Thanks

Paul
