A 99 conversion question

I did some research on the 99 conversion and from what I saw people said you have to replace the headlights along with the bumper..but I saw a 3KGT on Ebay for sale that the 99 bumper and 2nd gen headlights....from the looks of it, i'd rather have the 99 headlights but I was just wondering if he had done some fabricating or what? or if it is possible to just do the bumper.

It is possible to just do the bumper. but i think there are some fitment problems if you do.

Re: A 99 conversion question

You can do just the bumper and get second gen stealth headlights. The Stealth headlight are the exact shape of 99 lights minus the bubbles. You could also get away with second gen stealth turns but there is a little gap left with them. I went ahead and bought 99 turns as they were only around 120 shipped from Rockville Mitsu.

If you want 99 headlights be prepared to spend close to 1k or more.

I already said that.

I used my stock Stealth headlights for my conversion:

Re: Re: Re: A 99 conversion question

FYI THe 3k lights will "work" but being they are different shaped and are rounded at the outside corner where Stealths and 99's are at a 90* they will leave a gap.

Re: A 99 conversion question

yeah ur right, I was thinking of buying a TT Stealth and doing the 99 conversion, but i'm a little weary of Stealth's. Why are they so much cheaper than the 3000GT, isn't everything on them the same besides the body? Aren't they just as reliable and fast?

3000's look better?
Or they're better known?
Maybe better service?
Or Mitsu's are just always more expensive :P

Re: A 99 conversion question

Its weird but it has to do with the 3000gt's beings imports whereas Stealths are "domestic." Also I have the 96 Stealth wing which looks a hell of a lot better than the regular Stealth wing. Totally changed the look of the car.

Yeah 96 wing is more agressive. A friend of mine who drives a 92 VR4 looked at the car after it was done and kept staring. He finally asked me "Dude what is different with that wing?"

As for the car. Thanks for the props. I did all the body mods and additions. I picked out the color and my dad did the little bit of body work that needed done and sprayed it.

I'll see if I can dig up some pics if the wing to show the difference.
