96 Camry Starting problem

In winters my 96, 4 cylinder Camry developes an interesting starting problem. The car startes up OK and drives OK, but if you try to start up the car between 10 - 20 minutes after the car has been driven & warmed up, it won't start again until it passes the 20 minute mark, or before the 10 minute mark. The engine cranks but no start. No engine light present. I have checked and replaced wires, caps and rotors, and checked ignition coil. I think that the nature of the problem is electrical since the problem occurs in humid winters only, but I also Think that it may have something to do with delivery of the fuel.

I appreciate any help

Thanks

Re: 96 Camry Starting problem

Have you changed the fuel filter in the car? If not, it might be a wise idea to do so.

Re: Re: 96 Camry Starting problem

I will check the log book to find out the last fuel filter change date, but it would not hurt to change it again. Thanks for the tip and I will keep you posted if that cures it.

Cheers

Re: 96 Camry Starting problem

Start disconnecting the various wiring harnesses around the distributor and control units, etc. You are looking for a bad connection or a broken wire. It's a bitch because it so intermittant. Make sure the wires are squished in the harnesses ok.

Do you have water in the car? Does it cool ok? What kind of driving do you do? How many miles does it have.

Re: Re: 96 Camry Starting problem

There is sufficient fluid in the rad. It cools OK. Low milage type of driving. About 15,000 miles a year. On my next set of days off I will try your suggestion.

Thank you

Sounds like a warm stall due to an enriched engine. Search this site for engine coolant temp (ECT) problems. It might be that the TEMP sensor is starting to fail when the coolant temp goes up. good luck
