some kind of problem with 89 lx

ok its my g/fs car but she hit the gas and heard a bag we check the cv joints and so the problem is she puts it in any gear and nothing the engine runs fine tranny locks when in gear so we dropped it and figured it was a torque converter installed that on dec 31 but we tested the tranny by hand turnning teh input shafts and throwing it in gear its works perfectly you shift to reverse and it does that everything but i need more sugestion as to what to look at

ok the torque converter wasnt the fix it still does nohtign no matter what gear its in the shifter its right park and netural are in teh rigth place i dont im about ready to just start savin for a new trannny any ideas it an automatic any questions just ask please
