can anybody diagnose this problem??

well first off there is black smoke coming out of my muffler. and when i push on the accelerator it accelerates but if i push a little further my car starts to go slower until i push all the way to the floor. i looked at my engine and noticed that there is oil dripping out of my distributer. could that be the problem?? anybody know.

Re: can anybody diagnose this problem??

most likely the reason there's oil leaking from the distributor is because the o-ring needs to be replaced... as far as the smoke though I doubt that's causing the problem, black smoke is usually caused by a fuel issue (oil usually causes blue smoke).

Re: can anybody diagnose this problem??

depending exactly where the oil is leaking from it may also be just the valve cover gasket, if you take a close look at it you should be able to tell which one is causing the leak.

Re: can anybody diagnose this problem??

could be it just needs a simple tune... personally I would do a tune up on it and see whay happens from there... you may also want to check to make sure the throttle plate isn't sticking as it's opening causing it to open slower... and also check the fuel filter to make sure it's not clogged up with anything...

Re: can anybody diagnose this problem??

I have a very similar problem. I have a 91 teg and the problem goes like this.. Car idles fine, but when you try to put a small amount of pressure the engine struggles, or stutters. yet when you push the pedal past a certain point, say 3/4 of the way, engine runs fine. the engine light comes on so i checked the code... 43- fuel supply system. I checked the injectors. i have since replaced, dist cap+ button, plugs wires fuel filter, pressure regulator please email me if you find the problem and/or a solution [email protected]

Your fuel filter is located on the fire wall under the hood just right of the battery.
