overheating
recently my engine would heat up to the highest mark on the temperature mark then it would drop to normal operating temperature after a minute or two. i figured the thermostat. so i buy a new one(rated at 170degrees-i believe that's the stock operating temp) and install it. the operation seemed to have gone well. no leaks. however the problem still remained. it actually seemed to overheat longer and wouldn't cool down to normal either. i noticed when it gets really hot and i pop the hood, i see the coolant reservoir full of coolant, sometimes it pours out of the reservoir. then when the engine cools down the coolant leaves the reservoir and goes back into the radiator i'm assuming. other than that, no hoses are leaking, the thermostat housing isn't leaking, and the radiator is pretty much brand new, with no leaks as well. i was thinking i needed to bleed the system, and i did for about 10 minutes until coolant pretty much came out and not sputtering from air. problem still remains. sometimes i can hear water gurgling inside the radiator. is the thermostat defective? perhaps i should just get one from the dealer instead of an aftermarket one? this problem has really been driving me mad since it limits me from going anywhere far and fun. any advice or thoughts would be appreciated and more than welcome. by the way happy new year everyone.
