Talking Fuel Sending Unit Part Number

Hello, I've had the same problem that many people here have already discussed, a CEL and erratic fuel guage. The auto store's diagnostic computer agreed that it was the fuel sending unit that was bad. After a run around from the local dealer, (you have to buy the fuel pump for $300 to get a new sending unit) I came back to this forum and found the name of a dealer that had helped people in the past. After extensive search, I contacted them and they gave me the same line, but then said, have you heard about the alternate part? Apparently, the dealers are not allowed to recommend this part because it's from a different year or model or something because the part person was very cryptic.

Long story short, the part number for the fuel sending unit for my 2000 Isuzu Rodeo 6 cyl is: 8-25323-011-0 It's label is "Sender Kit, Fuel" and it cost me around $35. I had the local shop put it in for me for $120 labor. The local dealer quoted me $550.00! The part they sent is identical to the one taken out and the box came with 2 sending units.. for next time I guess. BTW, I called the local dealer and asked him to look up the part number and he said he could order it for $50 (but tell him you heard it was $35 and he'll lower the price) He also gave me all kinds of warnings like "we won't install it" and "if it doesn't work you can't bring it back."

I just wanted the Part Number in the forum so that anyone can get it from their local dealers - they WON'T volunteer the info themselves!

Good Luck.

Welcome to the forum!

that part number is pretty widely avaiable in other threads, but a thanks still goes out to anyone willing to share

I will say, the lower side quoted for cost if labor to install from a dealer is around $220 if I remember correctly, so sounds like you did pretty well! I'll keep that cost in mind for when it comes time for my truck. Others have posted the rediculous quote of +$500 from dealers, rediculous.

Happy New Year, and welcome aboard.
