Re: What to do?

its up to you then.... all depends if you want the newer looking camaro or the older camaro.... since you already have the 383 you might wanna consider using it or you could always sell it....

Re: What to do?

Up to you man. Just matters. The 1992 will probably end up being the faster car having a 383 in it. But then again you might like the styling and the 6 speed of the newer Camaros. Up to you.

Re: What to do?

Lot of money there if you want to convert to the 6 speed. Those arent cheap.

Re: What to do?

well, it depends on what you like. I personally like the third gens more than the fourth gens, primarily because of the interior. i dont like the organic, closed in around you design of newer cars. But if you are looking to go fast in style, its going to be cheaper to put the 383 and six speed in the third gen, then to buy a fourth gen to replace it, and will be faster to boot. although check your local laws about that 4in cowl hood, i know in va you cant run more than 2in

Re: What to do?

i dont know what i am going to do. it sucks that the headgasket needs to be replaced, cause i could sell it for about 2500, but with it needing a head gasket its not even worth selling so im thinking ill prob put the 383 in it, it a easy enough job. right now im wondering what rear end came in a 92 rs with the 305, and how strong the tranny is going to be cause i dont want to put the 383 in and destroy the tranny or rear end after about a week

Re: What to do?

or i could fix the head gasket sell it for about 2500 and use that money toward a monte ss, and put the 383 in that. fucking decisions!. I love camaros but i am ready to try something new, i am 18 and only had my license for 2 and a half years now and i have already owned 5 third gens

Re: What to do?

well, the tranny is probly an automatic, making it a 700R4, with a B&M trans kit it should handle 500hp.

the rear end is the 7.625in 10bolt rear end. with 28spline axles. they will handle about 350hp in stock form. but they can be built to handle 400-500hp for alot less than a 12 bolt rear assembly. Or better yet, see if you can get your hands on a 9 Bolt assembly. Their exact strength is not really known, but its compareable to a Dana 44 from what the word is. That rear end has held up to a big block setup in a third gen camaro subjected to regular drag runs. check out www.9bolt.com for more info.

Re: What to do?

another thing about the rear end i have a 91 rs w/ a 305 and my rear end was an open end or unlimited slip (peg leg burn outs) was some garbage 2.73 gears, i would recomend changin the rear to a posi if u can get a fourth gen i think they are better but not sure 89iroc will know hes the one that helped me out but i got mine from a 87 iroc and it had a little stronger 3.23 gears and a posi unit not to mention four wheel discs....
but if u do what i did u will have to get a new proportioning valve and master cylinder, and change the spedo gear so u get the right speed and mileage on it

Re: What to do?

LOL yeah I converted my old 73's rear gears from 2.73 to 3.73 and my speedo is laughably off. The thing is off like 30mph. At 50mph the thing is telling me 80mph!
