changing antifreeze

Ok, one more time just to make sure. I followed a thread about a month or so ago about chaning from the Dexcool to regular stuff being the thing to do. I just want to make sure one last time before I flush my system as to which I should put back in. Pink or yellow?

I remember someone calling the Dexcool "Deathcool" and how it eats up the internal gaskets and such causing leaks and failure. I just turned over 80k on my truck and am getting ready to drive halfway across country. Should I put back the recomended pink stuff or go with conventional yellow?

Thanks.

Re: changing antifreeze

yellow will mix with green or pink.... it is the universal stuff. I would go back with the pink, unless you are going to flush this out REAL good, then I would go back with the green. or yellow.

Cool

I have a 98 S10 w/ 86K and and 04 2500HD w/4k. The 98 has the pink stuff the inside of the radiator is clean as the new trucks. Think about it...... would GM with a declining market share change to a product that would damage their reputation years down the road????? the problem others have is related to some other core problem. The new unknown product gets the blame. I would not change, the factory engineer's know a whole lot more than us casual shade tree mechanics.

Coolant

In 1998 a tech. told me to use the dexcool just change it every 3 years instead of the recomended 5, because it wasnt holding up as well as they assumed it would. I have had no problems.
