Which wire is it???

I have a 2000 Toyota Tacoma and I've just bought a set of Hella 500 driving lights. I'm trying to tap into the high beam wire. I have no idea which one it is. Please Help!! Thanks!

Re: Which wire is it???

sounds like you need the wiring harness kit for the hella lights, should be able to get the kit from where you purchased the hella's, tapping into the existing wire's for the high beam may noy be the recommended chioce, the wires are intended to take the load from a single light, not 2, you may be overloading the circut and blowing fuses's that way, or worse, melting the wires themselves. make every effort to use a installation wiring kit.

Thanks for the reply! The thing is, it came with one...kind of. The skematics are horrible. The lights have been grounded, as well as the relay and switch. There is a wire (with a 15 fuse) in it connected to the battery and the relay. The lights are connected to the relay as well. The only thing left to do, according to the instructions is to tap into the high beam, or parking lights, and run it to the switch. Have a look:

Please let me know if I'm just looking at this wrong...
By the way, this drawing is much better than the one that came with the lights.

Re: Which wire is it???

ok i've seen what they have in mind, they're wanting to use the headlight circut to activate the relay, seems simple now! hehe! what you wanna do is tap into the headlight high-beam wire, to do this use a light tester, one with a ground clamp on the neg side, and a lighted pointed probe on the other end, hook the ground up to a suitable ground spot, and with the low beams on test the wires a few inchs back from the light connecter at the headlamp, 1 wires black for ground, so you have only 2 chioces left, insert the point of the probe into the wire, pick one, don't matter which, with the low beams on, if the light comes on, tap into the other wire, that's the highbeam side, if the testlight does'nt come on, tap into that one it's the high beam side,
hth!
