help plz!gotta big alternator prob

hey everyone I have a 91 talon esi and about 2 months ago I was just driving when all of a sudden my coolant, ebrake, and battery lights come on. I'm like shit, my alternators screwed so I just let it sit for the night and I get up in the morning to take off and the lights come back on, finally stupid me had my stereo the all of a sudden thats starts clipping and shutting off. So right away I shut everything off and I just barely made it to my destination before it died completely. So right away I assume alternator but I get diagnosing it and I came across the Alternator Relay, and I realized its just a diode and resistor so i took it out and jumped it with a wire and immediately the alternot kicked on and started charging so in the end I was just about to repair the relay myself (cold solder) so that fixed that but then again last night I was drving home and I went through a huge puddle and about 10 seconds later the lights came on again. I thought maybe it was the relay again coinsidentilly so I jumped it again and the i9dle droped down and it appeared to be working again but then everntually it died then I tried the wire trick again today and the idle dropped down but then i tested the voltage on the battery which at this point was down to 9volts and i just continued to drop? do you think this is the alternator cause it still seems to be putting a load on the engine?
