Front Sway Bar Bushings
I have a 2001 GC that's making a clunking sound when going over small bumps. I can rock the van side to side and get the same sound. In checking this forum sounds like the sway bar bushings. How hard are these to replace?

Re: Front Sway Bar Bushings
No , this sounds like something else. Chech the links on the sides of the swaybar thet go up the strut. Personally I think you should not hear the actual swaybar bushings if you do this and thay are bad.

Good to hear you had the easy problem. It is cheap and simple, isnt it!
I really didnt think you could hear the clunk by rocking it. cool |

I've got the same clunking sound and suspect the swaybar bushings, however my Hanes manual does not mention the "swaybar" does this go by another name or can anyone give me instructions on how to replace the bushings

Do these first, they are cheap and easy to do (if it is not cold outside and the rubber is less flexible). My clunk was diagnosed as stut bearings, and $550 (new struts, bearings and sway bar link ends) later I still had the clunk. New bushings (the ones on the body) did the trick. This was on a 2002. Good luck.
