PASSAT 1.8 20v

Hi - I have just brought a 1.8 20v 1998 passat that has covered 130,000 miles with full service history, is there anything which could go wrong with an engine of this mileage also how many miles will these engines do?

cheers Rich

Re: PASSAT 1.8 20v

Well, I own the same car, purchased earlier this year, and had to replace the turbo tube pretty much right after I bought it. (Don't really know how common this is) and I've done the tie rod ends. That's all the problems I've had so far. I have only 103,000 on mine. When the turbo tube went, we had no idea what it was. It was pouring black smog out the exaust and nearly stalling, everytime I went to excelerate. I have a manual transmission.
