awd to fwd

My question is, is it possible to put an awd motor in a fwd vehicle? If it is would it require a diffirent transmission or something? Is it possible to convert a fwd car into an awd car? is it hard to do? What is all the info about this what are the dos and donts any tips?...Oh I am looking at modifieng my 95 Ford Probe GT into fitting a skylines I6 AWD motor.

for that you will have to convert to rear wheel drive. becasue your engine sits sideways in your engine bay. for the AWD's thats based of FWD cars like the GSX, and EVO, you can put those engine's in a FWD and leave the AWD tranny out since those engines sits sideways ( left to right ). now for a car like the skyline GT-R where its a AWD based of a RWD, the engine sits front to back for drive shaft to go tot he back of the car. that is why a 240sx can fit that engine in becsue we are also rwd. also there is no way you can fit a straight 6 like a GT-R in your car sideways. we can hardly fit it sitting properly ( goin from front to back ). there is no way you can fit a engine thats about 3 feet long with tranny into a fwd. thats why those fools who trys to fit the F20c from the S2K on to their civic can dream all they want, unless they convert to rear wheel drive, its not goin to happen.

Re: awd to fwd

#1. This is a 240SX forum, not an engine swap forum, Probe forum or Skyline forum.
#2. It's not the engine that's AWD, it's the tranny.
#3. You can't fit the RB into the Probe unless you find someway of making a tranny from scratch.
#4. A FWD engine is trans-mounted, the RB is longitulany (or whatever) mounted, so no, it won't fit.
#5 through #142. You're retarded.

the AWD part don't go there too much not worth it

the skyline engine is mounted differently as said

the ford probe even if it look similat to the fastback 240sx[180sx], it is no where near it, well except maybe that it was built by the japanese

the car was designed and built by mazda, just given teh ford name as they are part of the same company, mergers

I mean I've worked on my friends probe GT and its engine seems to barely even fit in it, I would think that the firewall would need to be tore up

and finally why is this question even here????
go ask some other people that may know something about it, like probe forums/ engine swapping forums/ or ask a shop because I highly doubt that you could do this yourself at home

I'll just be the first to say this:

If sticking a RB engine into a Probe is the best way you can think of to spend $50,000 then you should probably put the money in a nice mutual fund until you think about it some more.

Re: awd to fwd

how do you just get 50,000$??? and also, why would you spend it on a P.O.S ford anyways? just buy a damn GT-R....or get a car worth actually spending 50K on...
