305 V8

Hey everyone I was looking at a car recentley.....1984 monte carlo 305 V8....for 700 bucks ...........How much power would 305 make if i cleaned it up? I wouldnt do to many mods yet

You can easily get 400HP from a 305.

Carfreak, the now collector car you are talking about as many different options. To start off check out www.montecarloss.com. They have tons of information to get more horsepower out of the 305 V8. Hope this helps.

about 180hp stock. Add Headers and a good cat back exaust system and you could gain another 20-25hp

Downgrade the carburetor CFM to something around 580-650 instead of the huge stock carb. Get a larger exhaust system, thats one of the huge the HP drains in Monte's. Spend a few days to rebuild it with new rings, valve guide seals, double roller timing chain and gears. You should be upwards of 200ish HP.

edlebrock TES headers do wonders on ur stock 305. check ur trannys TCC solenoid, if its working improperly, have it replaced with a quality gm part, and have them throw in a shift kit for fun :P.
