1990 Lebaron ( a few questions)
Hey all,
Im new to the community, so lemme start by saying hello. Well i have a 1990 leBaronGT and i have been having a few problems with it that i would like answered. 1. Starting problems. Usually when i go to start the car, it doesnt turn over... Well it kinda goes... " click" and nothing. I suspect starter, but im not too car smart. ANy thoughts?? 2. Heater Problems. Well heat works now... kinda.... I put a new thermostat in, and well ill just say, i stay warm. The heat is maybe half every other car oi have droves heat. The temperature gaudge will go up and down from time to time. Never too cold, and never too hot, and it stablizes fiarly shortly after fluctuating. I thought at first thermostat. THat helped a lot, but the heat wasnt very good still. I then thought maybe vapor lock??? but that would stop the car from heating up at all right??? FOrgot to mention that when i idle the heat gets pretty cold from time to time. ANy thoughts would be greatly appreciated, TG |

Re: 1990 Lebaron ( a few questions)
Hi, would change out the thermostat and while you are doing that use a garden hose and flush out your heater thru the hose's , now the click you hear when you try to start could be the starter relay, its on the fender by the strut tower, also check all connections be sure they are clean and tight. good luck Slim

Re: 1990 Lebaron ( a few questions)
I would suspect the starter is putting out a loud
click from the solinoid but the starter itself is probably dead. These are permenant magnet starters and are not repairable. New or used look for your best price. New thermostate, plenty of coolant, and still not enough heat. Flush the heater core with forced water or air pressure and refill. also try burping the system. disconnect heater hose while running and release any air trapped and reconnect. Good luck |

Re: 1990 Lebaron ( a few questions)
mechanics say that starters on lebarons was a bad item on these cars and was common to go out,i had my starter go out on me and it was non repairable, so i had to spend $91 to buy a new one and starts up first time easy no matter what
