Scared out my mind right now!!!!!! HELP!!

Joe and Jake Im really sorry for starting this, but you will to if you just bought sold your perfectly good running gs for a 98 gst two days ago and have signs of CW. Sorry again but please read. I went to dsmtuners for reaing about symptoms. Well my clutch is stuck to the floor, it started with left turns, but also did it on rights untill the clutch did not want to come up anymore!!. ok i checked my clutch fuid there was a little tiny bit in there it should of still grabbed gear I put some more in there and tried to pump it but nothing. Well i parked it and started and it did. Called my friend to bleed my clutch for today, its at his house. Well when the tow truck came i tried to start the car and it didnt want to. It seemed it didnt want to start like my battery was going dead. Im tripping out over that. Its scaring the crap out of me!!! my friend is out of the city and is coming in a few hours. I read up alot about CW and found i had symptoms.The car didnt want to fire up anymore, im not sure if it really is the battery because i barely got the car. But im tripping out right now. this is the car i use to get to work and to school. no money flow right because of recent christmas. How do you know for sure you have it? Please im sorry for starting this, but can anyone give me when you for sure you have CW? It just wont start anymore? or what?

Uhh the only way to really know is to take it to a shop or dealership whatever and have them test it. When the car was running did you hear any loud ticking sounds? also how much milage is on it?

Well i got it in my 98 gst, and the way i found out was one day my clutch pedal got stuck to the ground. Then i spun a bering, and you can realy hear that. If you can get the car started get under and lisen to the bottom end. If you have the time take the pan off and ck for move ment. I have been told that if you have it bad enough you can move the crank. Now my boy has it on his 98 GSX and he still drives it. so i don't know how bad it is for you. Looks like you gonna be going 1st gen like me.I do have a block that i think is ok if you need it just let me know.

Troubleshoot the clutch first.

If that fails, take pics of your crank on a leash.

You just posted that your clutch fluid was all gone, did you fill it and bleed it? No need to freak out just yet! Have a couple friends help you bleed your clutch, when you start out its goin to go straight to the floor. That is because there is no fluid in the clutch lines, just make sure the bleeder valve is closed, then pull up the clutch pedal by hand, open the bleeder valve and do it again. Keep doing this until a nice stream of fluid comes out of the valve. But make sure someone is always making sure there is fluid in the master cylinder.

Now if you bleed it and it still does that, look at your master and slave cylinders and make sure they arent bad cause that would cause this too. If everything in the clutch system is fine, start to look for CW possibilities. It's really not that common so dont get all worried yet.

IF its cranjing slow the not starting issue isnt from CW. If its is cranking at full speed and not starting, I Would get a little nervous. Check for plastic shavings behind the timing belt cover. A quick test you can do is to try to move the crank by the main pulley. Gently pry it away from the frame, toward the motor. Then have someone step on the clutch. Some very very slight movement is acceptable. The upper limit is .009-.010, and your eye can easily see that. But if it looks odd... You just have to use your best judgement if you don't have the tools to measure it. ALL of this info by the way is in the RKO thread, I thought it was linked to in the sticky, but I could be wrong.

But so far it sounds like you have bad clutch hydraulics and a weak/low battery. Both of which are very common problems on DSMs.

I agree with Ash. After reading the symptoms described it sounded like it might be the clutch master or slave cylinder. Check inside the car to see if there's any fluid leaking from the clutch master cylinder. You might want to also try pulling back the black rubber boot too see if there's any leakage. Then check the clutch slave cylinder under the hood for leakage. They both are easy to replace. I used a write up I found on dsmtuners to change both a few months ago. Good Luck

OK my friend is getting out of work right now and im going over ther. He knows how to bleed the clutch. I went over there and checked if there was leaking by the clutch. It was moist but not like there was super leakege. Man i really hope its just that or either the master or slave i dont care there both cheaper than another 7 bolt or 6 bolt. Man this is getting me mad. Ok i started the car without the clutch by disconnecting that switch. So my car fires up. I didnt hear no weird noises or nothing. But still am scared. The place were i bought it from has warranty for the transmission and engine for 30 days. But will only pay for 50% of everything. And they will only put another 7 bolt in there. But still it is alot of money even 50% because what they chrage of labor is murder!!! So im still praying my car will be driveable by tonight. Again im really sorry for starting this thread but this is my the car im driving and need. I will bleed the clutch and replace both master and slave, just to be safe.

No need to replace them yet! Just bleed it and if there is a leak, go from there. No need to just up and buy a bunch of parts when you really dont know the problem yet. Just relax and dont jump to conclusions.

hey thanks alot for not getting mad at me or banning me for starting this thread the way i did.

OK well we bled the clutch and it works now!!!, but my master needs to be replaced in fact it was leakin on my carpet. So untill i change the master im going to check my fluid everyday day in there and make sure it doesnt go low. probably change it tomorrow or the next day. again sorry for the thread. And im so happy i can drive my car again.

I am just going to throw the word crankwalk in this thread, because I didn't notice it being referred to as anything except for CW That should be helpful in searches

This happened to my car shortly after I got it as well. Keep a bottle of brake fluid in the car, and when you start to notice you clutch engagement point dropping lower, you know you need to add fluid

Man you dont know how tripped out i was. Because i barely got the car. I was reading about two hours about crankwalk on here and dsmtuners, and i had symptoms and was getting tripped out all last night. I was thinking why did i sell my perfectly good running gs, and even why did i get rid of my civic I was seriously that scared to think back to my civic.




But we bled the clutch started her up put it in first heard the turbo spool up and shifted to second and forgot i ever doubted her
