Help. My 2002 Ranger does nothing when I turn the button to engage 4 wheel drive. Today I replaced the transfer case motor hoping that was it with no luck.
While I was waiting for the new motor to come in, I rebuilt the old one and hot wired the two power leads and the motor worked just fine. I tried that same motor but I get nothing on the dash, not even at start-up. I even went so far as to hot wire the motor while attached to the transfer case and it did engage the 4 wheel drive so I know nothing is frozen. I've checked everything electrical I can think of including fuse 5 in the low voltage panel as well as all the high voltage fuses. I followed the wiring back from the motor to a plug type module screwed to the outside floorboard which I took apart and cleaned, again without luck. I also tried unhooking the battery. What's left? Could the switch itself be bad? How do you get to it? I haven't been able to drive for a week and I'm going NUTS!!!!!!!! help please!!! [font=arial]

Re: Ranger 4 wheel Drive Blues...
I have exactly the same problem, I'll watch your post to see if any solutions develop. My dealer wants $200.00 to connect the computer to see what the trouble codes indicate. Any repairs would be extra.

I have the same problem with my 2000!! Please let me know if you find a solution. I am borrowing a dash board switch from a friend to see if that can be the problem, my last option! |
