sub enclosure help?

O.K. I got my Adire Audio Shiva sub for Christmas and ordered a Hifonics Zeus ZX4000 off of ebay yesterday, which runs 400 RMS at 4ohms x 1. What I was wanting to know is what kind of enclosure you all reccommend. I have been looking on ebay and have seen sealed, ported, and bandpass from $15-50. I drive a Nissan 300zx and listen mostly to rock/punk music. Also I was wondering I already have one amp hooked up in the car so do I need a complete amp install kit for the second amp or can I link it in and just have to buy RCA cables and speaker wire? Thanks for any help. Aaron

Re: sub enclosure help?

Don't get a prefab bandpass. Sealed for the shiva needs to be between 2 and 2.5 cuft. Ported 3 cubes tuned LOW LOW. Definately no higher then 28....26 is what I would do. Also you will DEFINATELY need a subsonic for the shiva if you decide to go ported.

Re: sub enclosure help?

thats why i skipped the shiva and went for the Tempest and it is on its way. The enclosure i am building for it is like 5 cuft Tuned to 18.8Hz. Its going to be a beast. I cant decide if i want down fireing or not. ive never really messed around with down fireing enclosures. IM asumeing the responce wouldnt be hindered all too much, i was plenty happed with the audiobahns around bariers but in the middle of the room there was a huge hole in the bass. have any suggestions? At the moment my amp has a maximum continuous power output of 192w. Peak at around 250w Im looking to be able to push the tempest to its suspension limits. Have any ideas on some new amplifiers (home amplifiers, not car amplifiers). I am geussing around 400w should get damn near close in the size ported enclosure i am looking into building.

Re: sub enclosure help?

Actually i was looking at teh AVA250. my only problem is that it is 180w@8ohm and [email protected] to my knowlesge they are not 2ohm stable. so with 1 i would have to fed it 8ohms or just run one coil. so if im not satisfied with 180w i will buy another and run 2 amps one chanel each. 540w should rattle my house down, dont you think? lol. the only thing i am scared of is current draw. When im really pounding im not sure a 20a braker is going to handle my receriver, stereo amplifier and 2 ADA250's along with a future center chanel amps. i dont know. i just ownt be able to play PS2 in the dark with my blacklight on pounding away...lol
