Alternator replacement on a 1987 190e

I have a 1987 190e 2.3....trying to replace the alternator but there are some problems. First off, the tensioner bolt that loosens and tightens the belt tension by moving the adjustment pulley is missing. I can't see if it broke or if it fell off or what. There appears to be a large bracket that has a piece that is covering the hole where I need to look to find out what happened to that bolt. I managed to get the belt off by removing the power steering pump pulley...and I moved the power steering pump aside to get a better look at that bracket. I want to know if there is any way I can get it off without removing anything else.

Also, the lower alternator mounting bolt won't come out. I can't get a socket on the bolt because it is actually touching the side of the bracket it is mounted to. The only thing I could really do is get the open end of a wrench on there sideways, but there isn't enough room to do that unless I get a wrench that has an adjustable(turnable) end. Is that what I need to remove this bolt?

Nevermind on that....I didn't look at things very carefully before I posted this. The lower alternator bolt has a nut behind it that loosens so you can remove it. I ended up just removing the whole belt tensioner mechanism since part of it broke and I needed to replace it anyway. I also decided to replace the small shock absorber that mounts under the tensioner because it was missing a piece and it was worn out anyway.
