sub enclosure

Hey whats up. I have a 01' gt and i need some help on designing a speaker enclosure that will still give me room for my golf clubs. anybody got any suggestions or seen anything out there. I also do not want to break the bank doing this. I have one 12" mtx sub that needs a home in the trunk. And on the other hand, if that does not work how about other mods for 8" subs. Just wonderin' thanks.

Re: sub enclosure

Go get a pre-made box from your local stereo shop, attach it to the floor of your trunk, and call it a day.

Re: sub enclosure

i believe you will need a custom made box to fit 12'' or higher in the trunk. i think the pre-made boxes are too big

Re: sub enclosure

its even worse if you have a convertible...my pre made box for 2 10's barely fits and i dont have any trunk space...go custom... but it can be expensive.

Ive got a single 12 Kicker Solo Barak L7 in my trunk with a box made for that sub. Its big as Fuc*, but sounds real real real nice. You cant bolt it to the floor cause the spare tire, but you can make a new floor out of 3/4"MDF and bolt it to that. It fits...barely...like, skin of your teeth.

Re: sub enclosure

hrm...I was looking to put to 10''s in there, and I have the convertible...
I noticed that there was (seemingly) enough room in the trunk on the left and right sides if you pull the covering back - open space pretty much out to the frame. If you build it right (and god I hope I do) the subs should be able to fit there with the needed cubic feet to still sound good. going to need mad amounts of dynamat or some other type of dampener.
I DONT know about the 12''s though...I was originally going to go with that but the space on the sides just might be too tight for that...:L)

With my luck the second I go out without a spare im gonna blow a tire...I was thinking about putting my Amps in there, but decided to go with the amps on the sub box, and the box over the spare tire. I have the MDF on a hinge connected to the frame so that i can lift the whole unit up to get to the tire...pretty neat setup if you ask me.
