Post No more import scene for me...

Over the past year I have sat back and watched the import community go through the floor. (I have also been looking for a new car for about the same amount of time.) Well I finally found one and I think that I am going to leave this one stock. Right now I have a 93 Si with I/E, Tantrums, Dunlop W10 215 40ZR17 rubbers, strut bar, and Eibach springs. It is also an Auto and I hate the question "why didn't you get a 5-speed?" or "why isn't it VTEC mane?" (not a spelling error) You might think that this post is just random and I am rambling but the point is coming I promise. Here it is...see..... I am trading my black 93 lude with 203K on it for a red 97 lude SS with 93K on it. Sound good? Feed back is required. Keep in mind I am not planning on racing it. I like the car but if there is some god-aweful reason that I shouldn't get it then tell me. I know it's an auto so don't state the obvious. If I do anything to the car it will be mild and tasteful. I would really like some feedback from del and the mods but other feedback is welcome.

Alan

All i got to say is i respect your decision, and good luck with your new car.

All i got to say is 93k miles on a 97 seems a bit high to me, but i might be wrong. That might be average on a 97. I see where your coming from too. Right now, i like the import scene, and iam currently doing mods on my car and have big plans for the future. But i can also see my self getting tired of all this, and just buying a new car and not doing anything to it. But for now.............faster is better!

Mileage is kinda high, but also, if I were getting a preowned 5th gen, and will not mod it much (if at all), I would get a 5-speed...but that's me.

Miles...

Well, if you don't plan on racing it, why worry about 5-speed or VTEC???

To be honest, 93k does seem like a lot for a '97. My '95 has just over 60k, and I've driven it a lot in the last year (built a new house 12 miles further from work); otherwise, I'd be around 50k or so.

Auto is a state of mind, not a choice. If you prefer driving, you would not consider auto...period. If you don't mind auto, then you must like not having to clutch and shift. All that said, I think you are making a choice based more upon status than anything. If you wanted a *driving* vehicle, you would have ignored autos. If you wanted no worries, you would not care about what people think or say.

So, the question is: how do you feel about what you've done? Happy, or remorseful? Let us know!

First off I haven't done anything yet. I am in the process of selling my car now but I have come across this car and I like it. I am pretty sure I would be happy if I do decide to continue on this road. I have heard mixed things about the Manumatic tranny in the new Preludes. Some say good some say bad. I was just wanting some feedback. I just want a newer lude that I can make look nice and not have to worry about. I am thinking of doing a few exterior and interior mods as well as I/H/E. Who knows!?! I may get the car and have my apitite for speed return. Needless to say I am not going to rush the mods on this car. Thanks for the feedback. Keep it coming.

Dont get a SS man... i have read wayyyy to many horror stories with the SS tranny going out. In your case thats the only thing that should hold you back i think, not because of speed.

Lightbulb IMO

This is going to be a road car for you. Personally, I have a choice of cars, but many don't. You said you want tasteful and practical I assume too. Take a look at my setup and remember that I had the keys to either a 5 speed or an SS and chose the SS for a road and track day car. My other car is a 96 Civic HB 5 speed autox setup and street legal too.

Whatever you decide do it with your needs in mind. I have had NO problems with the SS tranny in my 99. Then again I do not beat it to death even on road courses. Let me also say that the 5 speed is a lot of fun and great in certain weather and road conditions. Where I am the SS is actually a better choice due to the hilly terrain.

Good luck and happy luding to you.

yep, although my 98ss does not have problems, that doesn't mean that the 97 ss's don't. i would consider a mt if i were you or a 99-01 ss.

why dont you go for a rsx?

Remember tasteful and practical. I don't particularly like the new RSX. Though it is a nice driving car. I prefer a Prelude. I know them and they seem to suite me. Well, my personality anyway. I am still in the market for a car though. There have been several good offers come my way. The SS that originaly was metioned; my dad drove it and said it drove and felt all worng and that b/c the idiot that had it put a bra on it, it needed the hood and bumper painted. But, I am still looking for a nice Silver Prelude (97-98ish but a 96 V-tec would be nice ) Anyway thanks for the imput guys.
