Spark Plugs and Wires question

I am going to be putting on a 3.4" pulley on my 2000 Grand Prix GTP. I am also going to be changing the spark plugs and wires. What do all people recommend because I have heard different things from different people. Should I buy the spark plugs that originally came with the car (AC Delco) or NGK? I was looking at both. Also, should I stay with the normal heat range or go one step colder? Second, about the wires -- Should I buy what originally came with the car or should I get different. I was looking on pfyc.com at the MSD spark plug wires. An input would be helpful. Thanks

The NGK plugs are a good bet also there are a lot of GTP people that use Autolite plugs in a colder heat range than original. As far as the wires go the MSD plug wires are a good choice although there are others out there like Accel or Moroso. If you like the MSD wires then go that way. I wouldn't go back the the OEM wires especially if you are looking for more preformance. A set of high performace coils are also a good addition.

I would go w/ the Autolite 104's w/ stock plug wires and stock coil packs. The stock wires and coils will perform just fine so dont waste your money on different coils and wires.

With the autolite 104's, would you keep with the original gap (0.60)?

I was browsing other forums and I saw people with the 3.4" pulley would recommend starting at 0.55 gap. Now, my second question is -- Where did people get the autolite 104s? I have checked multiple autoparts sites and none of them list 'em. And then the third question is about gapping. If I were to gap to 0.55, do I just use pliers to gap to a smaller size and then measure that size. I have seen sights that list a spark plug gapper. Does that actually adjust the gap for you or measure it, or both?

If your not going to race your car,then I wouldnt go 2 colder of plugs.Id start with the Autolite 605s which are one colder and gap them at .055.

When I use to have just the 3.4 pulley,CAI,u-bend delete and GPS PCM, I had a problem just running 1 colder plug after a month or so and got crappy mileage,then went back to stock plug and improved from 18.8 to 21.6.Just remember you need to keep your foot in it, to keep the plugs clean.

Here is a general guideline for which spark plug heat range is right for your modified supercharged vehicle, are as followed:

- Use AutoLite 605's (one heat range colder) if your car is similarily modded like this: has a 3.40” supercharger pulley, CAI (cold air induction) setup, and a lower-temp thermostat.

- Use AutoLite 104's (two heat ranges colder) if your car is similarily modded like this: has a 3.25” supercharger pulley, 1.80:1 or 1.90:1 rocker arms or very mild cam, CAI setup, lower-temp thermostat, exhaust headers, cat-back exhaust system, and reprogrammed PCM.

- Use AutoLite 103's (three heat ranges colder) if your car is similarily modded like this: has a 3.0” supercharger pulley, 1.90:1 rocker arms or aggressive cam, CAI setup, lower-temp thermostat, exhaust headers, cat-back exhaust system, port and polished supercharger housing and/or throttle body, and reprogrammed PCM.

If I were to gap to 0.55, do I just use pliers to gap to a smaller size and then measure that size. I have seen sights that list a spark plug gapper. Does that actually adjust the gap for you or measure it, or both?

walmart sells those plugs 605,104 and 103 as most any auto parts stores and you want to use a plug gapper not pliers.

i have a 3.4 pulley, open cone, u bend delete, resonator delete, and a intense PCM, i bought the NGK TR 6s which are 2 heat ranges colder. Im thinking that these will not work well in my car. ZZperformance said on their site, use these if you run a 3.4 pully. ???? should i return them??? this is what zzperformance says about the NGK TR6s "Recommended for 3.4 and 3.25 inch pulleys. This plug will give you full mileage and doesn't require any special precautions for use. They come pre-gapped at .056-.057."

Doesn't it say something about regapping them, if you use a 3.4" pulley? I know one of the sites does.
I just read on the last thread I replied to you and you are a poor student. Where you getting all the parts. Subway give you a raise?

no it just says that they come pre-gapped at .056-.057. Should they be re-gapped? I just want to know if they aer too cold, i have read it several sections of ZZperformance that they say they have had no ill effects of running the TR6s on a 3.4 pulley with the mods i have. And KustomKid, all i have bought for the car was a PCM, supercharger oil, and those 20$ spark plugs.......
